Did You Know...

  • Enidine was established in 1966 under the name Integrated Dynamics Incorporated, or IDI.
  • IDI was co-founded by three people. Benjamin Houghton, Patrick Lee and Rudy Nutz. Benjamin Houghton, IDI's original Chief Engineer, previously worked for a company in Alabama designing the umbilical arms for the Apollo space program.
  • The "Pyromite" was the first product designed and built by IDI. It was a test fixture for exploding bolts. These bolts were used on rocket or missile boosters for stage separation.
  • In the mid 1970's, IDI started to market a line of energy absorption devices that were branded ENIDINE.
  • The brand ENIDINE is derived by a basic law of physics called the Conservation of Energy, which states that energy cannot be destroyed, but only converted from one form to another.  Our energy absorption devices convert kinetic energy to thermal energy. If you look at the Enidine Logo today you can still see the IDI within it.
  • Enidine developed the UltraLOC™ seat lock for commercial airline seat recline applications, and shipped the 1,000,000th seat lock in 2015 to BE Aerospace.
  • In 1977, Enidine developed the first $20 hydraulic shock absorber called the OEM 1.0 and is now the known as the ECO OEM 1.0, Enidine has shipped 1,250,000+ OEM 1.0 shock absorbers.
  • In 1981, Enidine patented the first shock absorber built inside of a circuit breaker
  • In 1984, Enidine re-located to its current facility as the company outgrew its original plant by hitting the $5M sales mark.
  • In 1991, Enidine entered the Wire Rope Isolator market through an acquisition of Steelpaw AS, out of Norway.
